Jon Almada is a medium, webmaster, programmer, adventurer, ham radio operator and explorer living in Northern California. Born in Texas and having lived in California for most of his life, he has experienced seeing and hearing spirits for most of his life. Fascinated with paranormal phenomena since his own early experiences, he made it a point to research various psychic, spiritual and paranormal phenomena as possible as a young adult and kept following the phenomena as his confidence in his own abilities expanded over time.

Jon has experienced both the world of mediums as a gift in his own family on his mother’s side and the world of space flight on his father’s side of the family.

Working in and around the business of rocket propulsion and computer science, he developed skills with electronic recording systems and programming, useful tools that would later benefit future paranormal research work.

Writing document management systems software and working in systems administration and development provided a grounding that provided Jon with the necessary tools to evaluate and classify paranormal phenomena in a balanced manner.

Jon worked with Vax, Prime, and IBM mainframe systems, evolving into robotic tape backup systems and eventually into web application design and programming with Windows-based servers and Linux servers. In the late 1990s, he developed what would become an industry recognized file transfer system that won an Information Week 500 award in 2002 and which is still in service in 2017 at the time of this writing.

During his career, Jon worked around a wide range of well known spacecraft programs like the Space Shuttle, Delta, Orion, Hubble Space Telescope, New Horizons, Messenger, the Mars rovers Spirit, Opportunity and  the more recent Curiosity rover currently exploring Mars among countless other programs over a three decade career.

In 2017, Jon started his media company, Afterburner One to provide a wide range of technical expertise, books, meditation tapes, in-person consultations and readings to customers under a single company banner.

In 2006, Jon conducted his first paranormal investigation at the Gold Hill hotel in Virginia City and caught his first EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena). In late 2007, Jon founded Ghost Rider Investigations and began investigating cases throughout the western United States.

Jon has a demonstrated ability to get large numbers of EVPs on recorders he carries. Some describe such an ability as  EVP-Affinity and while he does not know why he has this gift for getting spirit voices on tape, he enjoys recording and sharing the voices he gathers with others.

In 2008, Jon became the host of Ghost Rider Paranormal Radio which, in late 2010 became “SoulStream” and was dedicated to on-air mediumship and electronic voice phenomena demonstrations using live-telephone bridging to the Other Side.

Jon has appeared on SyFy Channel’s “Haunted Highway” (Season One, Episode Five) and numerous shows on BlogTalkRadio and ZTalkradio. Jon’s help from his grandfather in caring for his ill father is covered in the book Spirit Nudges by Joni Mayhen.

He also has been a regular medium aboard the U.S.S Hornet several times yearly, guiding teams through the ship as spirits make their presence known. Ghost Rider Investigations (GRI) continues to operate and has investigated the U.S.S. Hornet, the Queen Mary, the Sedona Vortexes, numerous private haunts, the town of Coloma California, Virginia City and the Truckee Hotel to name a few locations. GRI operates as a private research team, dedicated to helping people understand the paranormal.

Jon has a Bachelors Degree from the University of Phoenix in Information Technology, multiple certifications with a wide range of document management systems, operating systems, computer languages and web services systems. In the field of Mediumship, Jon is certified from his attendance at ImagineSpirit‘s courses on the subject as well as a lifetime of investigation of the esoteric and unusual.

Jon strictly operates by the Mediumship Code of Ethics as taught by his teacher and to which he holds true.

Jon does not read people for a living, however, he does read people on live radio out of his love of being a messenger and perhaps one day, he may make it a full-time profession, but right now, it’s a calling to do the work on-air from his studio in Northern California.

Jon says: “I recommend that people should only be read a few times a year at most. When I was hosting SoulStream on Blogtalkradio, I had people calling weekly to be read… the SAME people, over and over. That isn’t healthy and it doesn’t serve the higher purpose of living your life to learn your life-lessons on your own.

Mediumship is about passing NECESSARY messages and a fundamental human NEED for proof their loved ones are Ok on the Other Side, not for telling people how to live their every waking moment.

So, I enforce this on my show and in-person readings by only reading people who NEED to be read. I do the calling on those who have been screened and can prove they need to hear from a loved one.
